An invoice will be emailed to you after any service (except mowing) is completed. Payment can be made by mailing a check, calling us with a credit card number, or paying via our Payment Portal. We are PCI Compliant so if you’d like to put a card on file for Auto-Charge, let us know!
Yes! Customers are given the opportunity to “PrePay and Save” on full programs, i.e. Weekly Mowing, Lawn Applications, and Sprinkler Maintenance Programs. You should receive a letter via email each December for programs which are automatically renewed for the next growing season showing a discount of 10% for Application and Sprinkler Programs and a 5% discount for Mowing.
Our first week of mowing is usually the last full week of March, if Mother Nature cooperates. Late snow or early spring weather could change the start day, for any given year.
Broadleaf weed control kills only weeds that are actively growing. They do not prevent weeds from germination. Broadleaf weeds geminate at various times of the year (warm season vs. cool season) and favorable conditions. Certain hard to kill weeds, such as nutgrass/nutsedge, require more than one application.
Weather permitting, our applicators typically begin Round 1 in mid-February. Application services are done geographically to maximize efficiency, therefore your application will be done as soon as the applicator is in your area. Your application will still have the same effectiveness if applied in the middle of February as it would if applied in the middle of May.
Some of our program and/or service prices are calculated by property size while others are charged by the Man-Hour. For example, Lawn Applications and Weekly Mowing are calculated by property size because the square footage will determine how much product will be needed to fertilize or how long it will take to mow. Likewise, sprinkler system repairs and leaf clean-ups are charged by the Man-Hour because the degree of difficulty of a sprinkler repair or the amount of leaves to clean up is, essentially, a mystery, until we show up to complete the job.
If you pay-as-you-go for Mowing, the last mow will be the first full week of November. If you PrePay for the Mowing Program, we will mow three more times, with the last mow being the week of Thanksgiving, weather permitting. If we get an early snow, we’ll mow after the snow melts and it is safe to mow again. These last three mows are for leaf clean-up on the turf areas of your property. We will mulch the leaves where we can and bag them, if needed, at no extra charge.
This answer depends on weather conditions, your sprinkler system configuration, and whether or not you have plans to seed your lawn in the fall. If you are planning to seed your lawn, you’ll want to water that seed and baby grass for as long as possible before you cut off its water supply. That said, we recommend October for winterizing your system before freezing tempetures damage your system.
The weather is so different each year so this is a difficult question to answer. If your sprinkler system's backflow device is in the ground (or in your basement) you can schedule your sprinkler start-up as early as mid-March. If your backflow device is above-ground, you will want to wait until overnight temperatures stay above freezing. A backflow device can freeze easily when it is full of water, even in cold wind-chill temperatures, and they are often very costly to replace. Mid-to-late April might be the best time for sprinkler start-ups this year.
Japanese beetles are likely the culprit for the lacy appearance or for leaves dropping earlier than you would expect. Contact Us if you are concerned about your trees showing these symptoms.
Those marks are most likely just tire tracks and will wash away with the next rain, the next cut, or when you water the lawn. While our crews do the best they can with the challenges they face, sometimes ruts do happen in thin or bare areas. Please contact us if you do have ruts so we can address the issue.

Tire marks are virtually unavoidable when we have copious amounts of rain. When the rain becomes sparse and tire marks are still happening, you may need to change watering days so sprinkler water has at least a day to drain away and the ground can dry up before your Mow Day. If it isn’t the watering days, you may have a sprinkler leak, or a drainage issue. Regular fertilizer applications will help keep your lawn healthy as well. Consider a verticut and overseed in the fall, or landscape beds where grass doesn't grow well, and rings around trees to cover surface roots. Contact us for suggestions, recommendations, or estimates.
Of course! The products we use for our Lawn Applications are safe for pets and will give your lawn the necessary nutrients it needs to grow. Dilute your dog's favorite "potty spot" with the sprinklers, or just a bucket of water, to wash away harmful ammonia. Pick up waste before you mow, and clean your mower well after each use to prevent fungus. Take your dog for a walk around the neighborhood for some extra exercise so he doesn't wear down paths along the fences. Don't leave him unattended for long periods; dogs get bored too! A bored dog will dig and destroy even the nicest lawns (and landscape beds).
The short answer is "maybe"... for most services (Lawn Applications, Mowing, etc.) you are not required to be home, however, if sprinkler services are scheduled, the technician will need access to the controller, and possibly the water turn on/off if that is located inside your home.
Timing is key. Consider an aeration to decompact the soil and allow water, oxygen, and nutrients to penetrate deeper into the ground and expand the root system of your grass. Feed your lawn with regular fertilization applications like our Lawn Application Program. Irrigate your lawn well; 1.5-2" of water per week (including rainfall) should be sufficient. If you have large trees, call a tree-trimming service (we only trim small trees) to thin out the branches. Grass needs at least three hours of sun per day to continue to survive from one year to the next. In the fall, have us verticut and overseed your lawn to strengthen the root system of your grass even further. It is also important to keep leaves off the turf; too many leaves will suffocate the lawn and stunt growth. Be patient! A beautiful lawn takes time!
