What do I need to know about Snow Removal?

How much snowfall is required for plowing?

When accumulations reach the amount agreed upon in your snow removal contract (usually 2”), we will add your property to the snow removal route.

When can I expect the crew to be out to plow?

Arrival on property depends entirely on geography and the weather radar. Our goal is to have your property cleared within 12 hours of the end of the storm. Higher accumulations may delay our crews, but we will there.

Will you shovel my driveway?

We shovel sidewalks – from the driveway to the house, and city sidewalks – but we only plow driveways.

What if there is a layer of ice under the snow?

We only plow/shovel snow. We do not remove ice. If there is ice under the snow, we recommend adding the Ice Melt option to your contract.

How can I keep the plow from tearing up my yard or landscape bed by my driveway?

We recommend putting reflective stakes along the edge of your driveway before the snow starts, if we are expecting high accumulation amounts. If you are worried about turf or bed damage, especially if you have a third car or oddly-shaped driveway, these reflective stakes will let our crew know the correct spot where concrete meets turf.

Do I have to move my car for you to plow?

It is highly recommended that you put cars in the garage or move them to a safe spot so we can clear your entire driveway. We will not shovel around cars.

Where is a “safe spot” to move my car?

Assuming you heard or saw us coming and are moving your car for us to plow, do not park across the street from your driveway! We will not be able to effectively drag the snow off the driveway with a car in the way. If your neighbor parks their car there, please ask them to move it!

Where will you put the snow after you plow?

Ideally, we will put the snow in your yard as that makes the most sense. Don’t worry! Your yard will LOVE it when it starts to melt!

Tomorrow is Trash Day! What do I do with my trash bin(s)?

Please wait as long as possible to put out your trash bin(s). We don’t want you to miss your trash pick-up, but moving trash bins to plow your driveway slows our crew down exponentially.

My driveway looked GREAT after you plowed and then the city came by and threw snow at the end of my driveway. Will you come back out and clear that?

Unfortunately, we cannot control when the city comes by to clear your street. If you need us to come back and clear the end of your driveway, let us know, but there may be a trip charge for the extra service.

Help! I wasn’t prepared for a snow storm and I need my driveway plowed but I don’t have a contract for snow removal. Can you still help me?

The answer to this depends entirely on when you call for help, your account status, and staff availability. If you call us before the storm, you are a current customer, and your account is in good standing, we may be able to help you. We will not be able to guarantee when we will be out, as our customers with signed contracts are our first priority, but we will do our best to help. We will not be able to help during an active storm, or if you are not a current customer.
